'02 Jenke Vineyards Reserve Shiraz Our Reserve Shiraz is the product of a particularly good growing season in the Barossa and a barrel selection of the best wine 2002 has to offer us. The grapes were grown on our Rowland Flat vineyard, which adjoins the North Para River, in the southern part of the Barossa Valley. It has all of the spice and concentration of a true Barossa Shiraz. The nose is flashy, with hints of tobacco and pepper. The palate is luch with flavors of dark cherry and black plums, leading to a complex, lingering finish. The grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness (14be) and crushed into an open top ferment tank. The wine was fermented on skins for 10 days before being pressed and transferred to American Oak barrels. The wine completed fermentation in barrel, where it was aged sur lis (on lees) for an additional 9 months. The wine was then racked and returned to barrel for another 15 months maturation before being bottled in May 2004. Alcohol 14.0% by vol. 400 cases made.
